Two Heads are better than One

This is one side of the head, with Lester Holt of NBC news (in for the vacationing Brian Williams) acting as a model for the head of modern man.
This is the rough beginning of the other face of man from the distant past. At this point, I'm envisioning something along the lines of Australopithecus africanus. We shall see...

New Project

It's time to get started on the next project. A head and neck with a little surprise. As always, these projects take on a life of their own and I don't really know where this one will end up. A wooden base, a ball of excelsior, some jute twine and we are on our way!

Time to Re-think and change direction.


Every project, whether painting or sculpture, is like a problem that needs to be solved. This project started to head south as soon as paint was applied. It reminded me of painted garden dwarves or as Dean wrote in his comment (which see), "a creepy mannikin". So...the paint has been obliterated and covered with clay once again. The project has been re-thought and a new plan has emerged.
